It's October! Fall decorating, DIY Pumpkins, and Free Printables! -
Holy Moo-cow! It'southward Oct already! It happened so fast, that apparently Arizona hasn't realized that it is in fact Fall and not the middle of Summer all the same. Simply, I'll give her a interruption and simply promise she'south taking a few days to catch up. Wishful thinking on my part? Possibly, considering today was a "cool" 93 degrees. Ugh.
It was a crazy week filled with "Mommy" stuff like a sick kid (24 hour matter), 2 doctor appointments (well visits, both boys are nifty!), walks with friends, DIY projects, preschool time with Koa, Christmas presents (yep I am most done!), haircuts, Costco, and all sorts of other stuff that made the week just get abroad from me. A week that made me appreciate my Stay-At-Habitation Mommy status!
I did all the same, manage to go my house ready and decorated for Fall. Yes, I am 1 of those people who decorates for the season. I alter placemats, and table box decor, change the wreath, add leaves, etc. I love it. When it's so dang hot outside, I need to feel the flavor somewhere, and then mine as well be pretty and Fall-ish (is that a word? Information technology is at present) in the house.
I fabricated these reversible placemats from some random chevron material (on the back) from my mom and some old curtains we took down. Took most an hr and simply straight stitches. Yay for repurposing!
I made this table box terminal yr. I saw some at a Junker outcome but knew I would exist able to make it for waaaaaay cheaper than the money they were asking for it. I was right. Almost $10 and an hour later I had a pretty table box I could change for seasons and holidays.
These pumpkins are i of my favorite DIYs I've done. Also something I saw at a Junker result. A visit to the Austerity store and a couple Idiot box shows afterwards, I had a bunch of super cute sweater pumpkins. I have a tutorial here so you can make some yourself!
These are a super beautiful, cheap, and easy way to add together some comfy Fall decor.
All yous demand:
some old sweaters (I chose fall colors, zip funky, and got them at a austerity store)
Fiber Fill *pillow stuffing (cutting open old pillows, or grab it at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joanns, etc)
twine
scissors
condom bands
1.Cutting the arms off you sweater. Flip inside out.
2. Necktie off one end of the arm using a rubber band.
3. Flip correct side out now. The rubberband part should exist inside. Stuff with FiberFill. Fluff until y'all reach your desired "pumpkin" shape. Alpine, short, round etc. I chose nice and round. Get out enough at the elevation to catch. This is going to exist your "stem" later.
5. At present, grab the extra at the pinnacle. Tie effectually and knot.
6. At present use your twine to wrap up and around the pumpkin, making your sections. Be sure to pull the twine tight enough to make an indent in the pumpkin. *This is so difficult to depict. I hope the picture helps.
Everytime you wrap under the pumpkin, when y'all come back up, wrap around the stem. Work your mode around your pumpkin until you have all the sections you desire. Tie a knot at the stem when you're washed.
7. For the stem, just wrap twine around and around the extra yous left at the top. Hot glue at the top when you lot are done, or you tin can just tuck the end of the twine in. If you wound information technology tight plenty, information technology wont be going anywhere. Trim the extra sweater at the elevation to create a apartment top.
You can repeat this process with the other sweaters. For bigger pumpkins, you can utilise the body of the sweater.
And there you lot have it. Your super cute, cheap, and festive Sweater Pumpkin!
And then one day this calendar week during naptime, I decided I needed a few framed Fall sayings, so I am also sharing them here too. Print from your computer or salve your ink and send the file to wherever you get your pictures. * P.S. I really hope the links work. But I'm still learning hither. Please let me know in the comments if they do not and I will fix information technology!
